Arizona State Credit Union Anticipates Strong Turnout at Prescott Shred-a-Thon

Shred-a-Thon returns to record-breaking location

PHOENIX, Ariz. –Arizona State Credit Union anticipates a strong community presence at its Prescott Shred-a-Thon event after more than 8,950 pounds of documents were shredded and recycled at the city’s 2012 event.

This is the third of eight stops in the Credit Union’s 2013 Shred-a-Thon tour. The event is free of charge and helps raise awareness about the importance of shredding personal documents to protect against identity theft.

Members of the Prescott community are encouraged to participate by dropping off their sensitive documents at the Credit Union’s Prescott Gurley Street branch on Tuesday, May 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Chino Valley residents made a strong showing at the Credit Union’s previous shred event in April, where they brought 5,390 pounds of documents to be destroyed securely. This equates to saving more than 26 trees and is 1,380 more pounds than the Chino Valley community shredded during its 2012 event.

“It is encouraging to see a significant increase in community participation this year,” said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “Green initiatives, such as the Shred-a-Thon, are an important part of our cooperative business model and meet a great need in the communities the Credit Union serves.”

Important documents to bring to the Shred-a-Thons include bank statements, tax returns, medical bills, credit card statements and other personal documents. Members and non-members can also receive $150 when they open a qualifying checking account.

Shred-a-Thons will be hosted at northern Arizona Credit Union branches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are free and open to all members of the community, with a limit of five boxes per person. Below is a complete list of branches and dates:
