Arizona State Credit Union Makes Final Stop in 2012 Shred Tour

Northern Arizona residents get last opportunity to shred documents and fight ID theft

PHOENIX, Ariz. –Arizona State Credit Union’s 2012 Shred-A-Thon will come to a close on October 16 with a final stop in Cottonwood.

Members of this northern Arizona community are encouraged to bring their documents to the credit union’s Cottonwood branch at 601 W. State Route 89A on Tuesday, October 16, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The free event is open to all members of the community and helps raise awareness about the importance of shredding personal documents to protect against identity theft.

Important documents to bring to the Shred-A-Thon include bank statements, tax returns, medical bills, credit card statements and other personal documents. There is a limit of five boxes per person. Community members will also be placed into a drawing to win an Apple iPad when they apply for a Visa® Platinum Credit Card.

Despite the rain and gloomy sky, the credit union’s Prescott branch shredded more than 8,840 pounds of documents at last month’s shred event, which equates to saving 44 trees.

“The turnout from this year’s shred events are nothing less than outstanding, especially when we see people standing in line and managing stormy conditions so they can shred their documents,” said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “The positive feedback we’ve received from these events shows there is a deep need for green initiatives in the communities we serve.”
