Arizona State Credit Union's Shred-A-Thon Helps Prescott Community Fight ID Theft
Credit union anticipates strong turnout from Prescott residents for third year
PHOENIX, Ariz. –Arizona State Credit Union’s Shred-A-Thon will head to Prescott on September 11 before completing the 2012 tour in Cottonwood.
The credit union is optimistic this will be a successful event as Prescott residents have shredded record amounts every year since the Shred-A-Thon started in 2010.
Members of this northern Arizona community are encouraged to bring their documents to the credit union’s Prescott branch at 1335 Gail Gardner Way on Tuesday, September 11, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The event is free of charge and helps raise awareness about the importance of shredding personal documents to protect against identity theft.
“Green initiatives, like the Shred-A-Thon, are part of our sustainable model and help meet the need for community outreach programs in local Arizona communities,” said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “As a local financial cooperative, these services are what separate us from other financial institutions.”
At last month’s shred event, the credit union’s Payson branch shredded more than 3,100 pounds of documents, which equates to saving 15 trees.
Important documents to bring to the Shred-A-Thon include bank statements, tax returns, medical bills, credit card statements and other personal documents. Community members will also be placed into a drawing to win an Apple iPad when they apply for a Visa® Platinum Credit Card.
Shred-A-Thons will be hosted at northern Arizona Credit Union branches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are free and open to all members of the community, with a limit of five boxes per person. Below is a complete list of remaining branches and dates:
- Prescott Gail Gardner Way Tuesday, September 11
- Cottonwood Tuesday, October 16
