Arizona State Credit Union Hosts Shred-a-Thon Event Despite Rain and Hail
Poor weather does not stop Credit Union from encouraging community members to recycyle documents and protect against identity theft
Phoenix, Ariz. -Arizona State Credit Union hosted its outdoor Shred-A-Thon event at the Credit Union’s Prescott branch May 10 despite a frigid spring storm that blew through Northern Arizona. Temperatures dipped below freezing as community members brought more than 4,680 pounds of old documents to recycle – the equivalent of saving 23 trees.
“I am very much impressed with the level of support from Prescott community members,” said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “We had a strong turnout even with uncooperative weather, which leaves me encouraged that the remaining Shred-A-Thon events will be just as successful.”
The Shred-A-Thon moves on to Chino Valley Tuesday, June 14, for its third of seven stops on a tour throughout the Credit Union’s Northern Arizona branches. This free event helps members of the community by raising awareness about the importance of shredding personal documents to protect against identity theft.
Documents to bring to the Shred-A-Thons include bank statements, tax returns, medical bills, credit card statements and other personal documents. Arizona State Credit Union will offer $100 to anyone who opens a checking account with direct deposit during any of the events.
Shred-A-Thons will be hosted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are open to all members of the community. Below is a list of the remaining locations and dates:
- Chino Valley Tuesday, June 14
- East Flagstaff Tuesday, July 12
- Flagstaff, Beaver St. Tuesday, August 9
- Prescott Willow Creek Tuesday, September 13
- Prescott Valley Tuesday, October 11
